MERRY XMAS!!!
I first wanna apologize for this post being 3 days late! I totally meant to post this on christmas day or for my Hispanic community (on christmas eve), but I got so swept away in working and spending time with my fambam! Something you may or may not know about me is that I work in retail and I absolutely love it! But that comes with some good and some sucky work hours, so last week I was working every day and did not have energy or mental strength to write out a good blog post for you guys! 🥺
But enough with the excuses... MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I sincerely hope that each and every one of you had an amazing christmas, whether it was with family, friends, or even just by yourself most of the time! YOU get to choose how to spend it, and I hope you found some joy this holiday season!
I was very inspired this year and I wanted to write about how I was able to volunteer at a toy drive and how it changed my christmas. So every year my church does this toy drive giveaway every year, where we give free toys and food to family in need. Every year for like the past 5 years or so, I have always helped in some way with this event. This year though, I knew I was going to help again, but if I am being honest, I DID NOT WANT TO HELP AT ALL!
I was so incredibly lazy, tired, and just drained. I feel like my own job had already taken so much out of me, especially since I work in customer servicing and I had just been constantly being nice and giving everything to my job. So, I was really dreading going to the toy drive.
I got off of work that Friday of the toy drive at around 4ish, I picked up my favorite food and drove home to eat and get refreshed. I ended up leaving late and made it to the toy drive right as they started letting people in. I sat down with my little sister and bestie, Betsy, and we all just looked so drained and tired. We all were just so like dead from the week/day! We did not feel like putting on a fake smile and pretending to be one of Santa's elves. BUT WE KEPT GOING!
I wanna say its God in us, and the years our Pastors pushing us and showing us that it doesn't matter what we are feeling, if God gives us an opportunity to be just like Jesus, then you show up for Him! I was exhausted in that moment but I just though, "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?", soo we got up and we put on our best smiles and we DID THE DANG THING!!!
and can I be honest for a sec... giving out these toys to these kids, and just seeing the faces of these kids get their toys, just made my whole christmas! I felt so content and joyful just giving out these toys. I had no clue that this small act of passing out gifts could change my mood in an instant. I immediately felt energized and so happy to be there!
So this is your sign... when you feel tired, exhausted, fearful, scared, anxious, weak, all the things... just pray and ask God for the strength and HE WILL GIVE IT TO YOU! HE WILL ONLY GIVE YOU THE THINGS THAT HE KNOWS YOU CAN HANDLE! and I think that sometimes we forget that God literally tells us to be like Jesus, and serve others before ourselves. So, maybe we should start asking ourselves that question, "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?"
anyways... that was just a lil from my xmas this year, comment down below the 🎄emoji if you've read this and kinda enjoyed it lolz, or comment your fav thing/moment from xmas!
I hope you have an amazing day, merry xmas! I'll see you very very soooooon!
